Michael Woolley
The Interesting Bit:
Since the age of 12, Michael Woolley has been
buying Vogue –
much to the ridicule of his schoolmates. So, he started as he meant
to go on, and many years later, he’s got tons of experience
and is known as a cool guy to work with. His wearing round or square
glasses can often be used as a mood indicator. He lives in London
with his wife Joanna, 2 fish, a cat, and a budgie, and he
still buys Vogue,
of course. (They like reading it together).
The Factual Bit:
Michael speaks French (as well as English), has lived in Paris for a number of years before returning to London, and travels widely for his work on location and in the studio. He is very experienced at working with, and motivating, a big team of people. Born and brought up in Australia, Michael moved to London aged 10 with his orchestral musician father and painter mother. He bought a camera during his finals (BA Hons in English History) and photographed his girlfriend who was a well-known model at the time. A tangential move, which led to his international photographic career being nothing to do with English History.
The Artistic Bit:
Michael’s photographs have been exhibited
in numerous galleries worldwide, including the purchase of 31 prints
by the prestigious SK Stiftung Kultur
photographic collection in Cologne which contains
the August Sander archive.
